It's happy birthday time in the Ambassador office (what up, Jani & Michelle!) and while you've undoubtedly heard about the guys and their quest for heart attacks in a bun, we realized that the ladies' tradition has not yet been shared.
You see, the guys have meat.
We have (in this case) rice.
Yes, that's right. In honor of Jani's special day, we ventured off to Pei Wei, an Asian diner known for such delicacies as honey seared chicken, vegetable low mein and house rice. There was no goopy cheese, no greasy sauce and no blood pressure screening after we finished.
Just good laughter, good food and good company. Really, what more could you want?
And, for those of you who are thinking, "Where's the challenge?", just talk to Katie. Not only did she try a new dish (caramel chicken), it had vegetables on it. No, I'm not kidding. No, it wasn't just the garnish and yes, she actually ate some of them.
And, out of seven ladies - two of us ate our whole entire meal. I know, even we were shocked. And what more, we saw Ambassador's very own Pastor Robert praying with a man in front of In-and Out. Get in to get your burger, get out for some soul food.
And, what a better way to end the luncheon than to eat our fortune cookies and read the messages of hope and inspiration inside. Because, there is nothing better than uplifting each other with such quotes as:
"An interesting medical opportunity is in your new future"
"The road will be rocky but uplifting"
"You constantly struggle for self improvement - and it shows."
But, the best fortune of all was for the birthday girl, "An unexpected windfall will be yours". (Once I had to be told what a windfall was, I was totally on board.)
You see, it's not just lunch with us Ambassador ladies. It's an experience. It's how we roll.
We Connect. Ministry and Media.
