The Trail

Launched in 1959, while still an employee of Biola University, Ambassador Advertising Agency was founded by Al Sanders primarily to serve the historic radio program, "The Biola Hour."

A decade later, Al left Biola to become the host for the Radio Bible Class television production, "Day of Discovery." The ensuing 15-year relationship ultimately led to his role as executive producer/director of the telecast and agency representation for both television and radio outreaches of the Grand Rapids-based ministry.

In 1977, Al was the facilitator in bringing Chuck Swindoll's teaching messages to radio audiences. Initially begun as "New Standard for Living" with assistance from the Lockman Foundation, Chuck's broadcast evolved in 1979 into a separate organization, "Insight For Living."

Another major factor of Ambassador's development was the relationship initiated in 1979 with Dr. James Dobson and Focus on the Family. Again, in great measure in response to Al's urging, Focus began a daily quarter-hour broadcast early in 1980. It was our privilege to be part of the phenomenal growth and impact of the "Focus on the Family" broadcast from "infancy" to its 1,500-station network in 1993 when we resigned that assignment to pursue other avenues of broadcast-related ministry.

In 1989, after 17 years of service with Ambassador, Jon Campbell was appointed President and served in that primary leadership role with the support of three Vice Presidents heading the company's primary divisions.

In the early 90s, once again, we were privileged to launch new broadcast endeavors that continue to have a far-reaching impact, including "FamilyLife Today" (Dennis Rainey) and "Renewing Your Mind" (R.C. Sproul).

Providing leadership to the Christian Radio Consortium, in March 2000, we completed a three year process to help Christian broadcasting move into new technologies via digital satellite delivery.  With that accomplishment, attention turned to best utilizing the internet in the future for broadcasting ministries.

Ambassador (in partnership with Focus on the Family) once again led the way in radio syndication technology, changing the industry when in July of 2008 Amb-OS was launched.  This allowed for customizable local programming without multiple recordings, automatic program downloading and other technological advances.

It has always been our philosophy that Ambassador's expertise is meant to facilitate, typically in a behind-the-scenes manner, accomplishing the greatest impact for those gifted men and women communicating God's truth through media ventures.

We've had the unique opportunity to serve many outstanding broadcast ministries over the course of 50 years.  Today, our staff of committed individuals work hand-in-hand with more than 20 media ministry and publishing organizations to ensure good stewardship, expert production, and comprehensive outreach to their constituencies.

We are humbled by what God has entrusted to us to do in His name. We only ask that we be found faithful servants for His glory!
