Why World Malaria Day?

Quick Facts on Malaria:

  • 41% of the world's population live in areas where malaria is transmitted
  • Malaria is preventable
  • Over one million people die from malaria every year
  • A $10 insecticide treated net can help save a child

World Malaria Day:

Established by President George W. Bush in 2007, April 25 is designated National Malaria Awareness Day. Compassion International is ministering to thousands who live in areas where malaria is rampant, often infecting children who die of a preventable disease.

Compassion's Fight to End Malaria:

Most who die from this treatable, preventable disease are children. Compassion's Malaria Intervention Fund assists children and their families -- giving them the resources they so desperately need to fight this deadly disease, including:

  • mosquito nets to protect children from mosquito bites
  • malaria prevention education
  • access to malaria medical treatment for those struggling with the disease
