God rest ye merry, gentlemen, let nothing you dismay,
Remember Christ our Savior was born on Christmas Day;
To save us all from Satan's power when we were gone astray.

O tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy;
O tidings of comfort and joy.

This is probably one of my most favorite Christmas carols--primarily because the good news of Christ's birth was to bring "comfort and joy."  But finding out the real meaning behind the words "rest" and "merry" made it all the more special.

The Heart of Submission

Submission is not always an easy thing for us women to grasp.  Me especially.  I didn't marry until I was 36.  Up until that time, I was in control of my life (or at least I thought I was).  And while over the years God has revealed to me through His Word (and His people) what it means to surrender and be a wife that glorifies Him, admittedly every now and then "control" rears its ugly head. This past weekend was no exception!
