Should the Gospel be Offensive?

At my father's memorial service in February, my youngest brother told of how our father came to know and accept the Lord at age 72, following heart surgery in 2003.  A pastor friend later came up and shared the gospel as well as give an invitation.

Overall, the memorial service and fellowship luncheon was wonderful.  It was a beautiful day with family and friends paying their respects (my dad would've loved it).  But I'll admit, I had some concerns with how the service ended-mostly worried about how some of our guests would receive the pastor's message ...

What Road are You On?

Are you banking your salvation on a past event?  That's one of the concerns John MacArthur raised in Monday's broadcast of "Grace to You®."  He went on further to say that it's no proof that a person is not a Christian because they can't point to an event. (Candidly, I've often wrestled with both sides of this, especially when I think of loved ones in my family.)
