"Overcoming Ebola" Series on HAVEN Today

These have been busy days at Haven!  I'd like to highlight a recent visit with one of the many fine Haven stations.  But also underscore content on air which starts today.

All this week, you'll hear Haven Today focus on one of the most important issues of the day in a series called "Overcoming Ebola."  This launches Haven's effort to help two front-line ministries, SIM and Samaritan's Purse, fight the battle.  Every penny given this week to Haven for the project will go to these two organizations.

An Unlikely Convert

How does God reach a person who is:

- Living in a lesbian relationship
- Leader in the student LGBT community on the Syracuse University campus
- A PhD’d tenured associate professor in English and Women’s Studies

The answer is . . . God reaches her just like He reached you and me.

Now, I rarely read books.  My Audible library confirms I’ve listened to hundreds. (I like to multi-task while enjoying a recorded tome).  But reading is another thing.  It has to be the right time and place.

What to Cut out of Scripture

I’m going to be real candid.  There are some passages in scripture I just don’t like. 

It’s probably because they force me to be the person God wants me to be and not the person I have a tendency to be.

To be clear, I most certainly believe the Bible is inherent.  And I believe that everything in the Old and New Testaments is “inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped ...
