Brad Mattes Casts Light On The “Forgotten Dad” This Father’s Day

  • Wednesday, May 7, 2008

Addressing a population that is growing at an alarming rate, Brad Mattes takes a unique approach to Father's Day in a 26:00 radio special, "The Forgotten Dad."  Present in most churches, but usually unnoticed, the forgotten dad is a man plagued with feelings of guilt, convinced that God will never forgive him for not standing up as he allowed, or maybe even encouraged, the mother of his child to abort their baby.

This powerful program has a message of hope and healing as three fathers whose children were aborted tell their stories of shame and guilt, and ultimately of restoration.  Underscoring the hope found in Jesus Christ alone, this is "reality Christian radio" at its best.  These are real stories, with real dads.

In 1996 Brad began his own research into this forgotten dad phenomena because so little was written or discussed about these hurting men.  Interviewing countless men, he's found drugs, alcohol, destructive behavior, sexual addictions and more is usually the devastating result when forgotten dads are ignored.

To further enhance this Father's Day special, Brad is freely providing listeners with a book specifically written on this topic, "Fatherhood Aborted: The Profound Effects of Abortion on Men."

These forgotten dads who desire forgiveness and healing are not the norm.  But their number is growing and, according to Brad, "the church is the most equipped to reach out with a message of hope and healing."

With a strong commitment to the sanctity of life, Brad is keenly aware of the developments in the pro-life discussion, appearing frequently as a guest on many radio programs as a voice for the sanctity of life.  Regularly addressing threats to the value of human life, Brad shares news breaking information in the pro-life movement so listeners can respond with intelligence and timeliness on his one minute daily feature, Life Issues®.  Brad also hosts a television program, "Facing Life Head-On" that is currently in over 100 million homes weekly, addressing topics that provoke thought and awareness on life issues.
