Very few of us will ever experience the stopping of our hearts and live to tell the story! Brad Mattes, Director of the Life Issues® Institute, is a rare exception! Although surgeons performed (successfully) major heart surgery on him only a month and a half ago, Brad is already on his feet. In fact, he's already recoded an episode of "Facing Life Head On" and is ahead of schedule for his daily radio feature, "Life Issues®!" Thank you for your prayers!

Heroes in my life

While watching "I am number four" recently, I was struck by how much I wanted to possess super powers. I want to be the superhero and 'save the day.' Cliché, I know . . . but true! That got me thinking about the real life heroes that I've had (and continue to have) in my life: My father, my grandfather, and of course, my wife. These are all people who have impacted me in truly special ways.

I'm a firm believer that we need to take time to celebrate life. Simply slowing down to enjoy a meal with family and friends on special occasions is important to me, as I'm sure it is for you too!
