When I think of October, pumpkins, candy and autumn days come to mind. Breast cancer doesn't . . . that is, until this October.
A dear friend has just been diagnosed with stage 2 invasive breast cancer. She is a single mom of two in her mid-forties. Now when the clerk at the grocery store asks me if I want to donate to help find a cure for breast cancer, instead of saying "No, thanks," I picture my friend Darla and I'm ready to support the cause. This is why the "Life Issues®" recent commentary, Komen Supports Planned Parenthood couldn't have been more timely.
As Brad Mattes reminds listeners, while we remain committed to protecting life, we must remain diligent to protecting all life. He points out in this particular commentary that according to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's own web site, several of their state chapters have donated to Planned Parenthood.
I'll be supporting my friend Darla by donating to a breast cancer foundation, but thanks to "Life Issues®," I'll be sure that my contribution will not be used to support those organizations taking the lives of the unborn.
