When You Have Nothing to Give

Foot massager?  Knife sharpener?  iTunes gift card?

When You Have Nothing to GiveIt's challenging when you're wondering what to give the person who has everything - but, what do you give when you have nothing?"  That's the question Pete Briscoe will tackle in a special message coming up on "Telling the Truth" - What Do You Give When You Have Nothing to Give.  I can't help but wonder that many listeners will relate to having "nothing" in this trying economic time.

What Are Your Christmas Traditions?

This weekend I started to think about some of the Christmas traditions my family shares:

  • Christmas Cards
  • Nativity Display
  • Caroling
  • Reading Luke 2
  • Decorating the Christmas tree
  • Shopping
  • Christmas movies
  • Cookies and hot chocolate

Speaking of traditions, the "Hour of Decision®" programming for December includes wonderful Christmas messages from Billy and Franklin Graham along with traditional Christmas songs-all focusing on the true meaning of Christmas.

And, you'll also want to be sure you journey through "Christmas Past" with the Graham family in the classic television specials available on the ministry web site. Heartwarming stories, beloved guests and stirring seasonal ...

Turn the Radios On

10 - The number of years Christian radio stations across the U.S. have partnered with HCJB Global to send fixed-tuned, solar-powered radios worldwide.

27,000 - The number of people who have received a radio from HCJB Global.  "These radios go to prisoners, people in remote areas who don't have access to electricity, and poor people who can't afford radios or the batteries to operate them," explains Heide Jones, the mission's station relations director. What's Your Favorite Christmas Memory?

I have many, but I'll always remember Christmas morning when, after sharing gifts, my Dad would read aloud the Christmas story from Luke.  It's a tradition that we now practice in my own family.

Well, Elizabeth George beat my ...

A Perfect Christmas

If you're planning the "perfect" Christmas celebration, forget it!  There is no such thing, and you'll just end up exhausted and frustrated when it doesn't happen. Emilie and Bob Barnes and Sheri Cooper

Instead, Emilie Barnes, says just "Keep It Simple!"  If you simplify your holiday plans, you will enjoy them more.  But, with all the things most of us want to do this probably doesn't sound possible.  It is - really!

As you make your plans just keep saying to yourself - keep it simple.  Take out a monthly calendar and schedule the things you really want to do - forget the rest!

Here are ...

RadioYesterday after meeting with two men from a church here in SoCal about a radio program for their pastor, we were taken back by their incredible personal stories.

Both men came to know Christ through Christian radio as young family men.  One of them said, "I was definitely working on becoming an atheist."

Driving in his car to a business appointment, he heard a hymn on the radio, a kind of music he was unaccustomed to hearing. After the hymn, the speaker talked about Jesus Christ and what it means to know Him personally.

Intrigued, he listened again the next ...
