My husband and I have recently gained a full appreciation for the effort it takes to find a new church home. After settling in as newly weds, finding a place to connect with believers was a top priority. And if I’m really honest with you, I’d have to say it’s not only been overwhelming…at times, it’s been downright discouraging. But if there’s one thing that stands out to me through this arduous process so far—I’ve learned that Church isn’t about me (I know, shocker.) It’s about a body of believers, imperfections and all, focusing on the only thing that really matters—God and His glory.
I’m pretty sure we’re near the end of or hunt, but there’s sometimes when my ambition to find a new church home matches that of a sloth’s. I don’t want to check out another place, I don’t want to be “the visitor” again…I just want to belong. For yourself (or your listeners) who might be fellow sojourners on this journey—you’ll be encouraged by what Jim Garlow shares this week. Make sure you hear his feature airing on Wednesday—it’s called “Why Bother With Church?” It’s exactly the encouragement I needed—and I think you’ll find it to be the same for you.
On a quick side note, if you haven’t checked out the redesign of Jim’s site yet—you’ll want to today! Just click here.
