For this month--here's what we posted to our News & Insights section!

The best Christmas gift ever!

Mercy Ships® BabyTomorrow I head out to Arizona to celebrate Christmas with my in-laws for my first time.  Carolyn and I have some fun gifts to give away to the family, but I don't think any of them compare to the gift Mercy Ships® has given 67,219 individuals and their families - a healthier body and a reason to smile!  The Africa Mercy volunteer staff has performed a total of 97,625 procedures in Benin in 2009 where health care is virtually non-existent!

Back to Basics

In just a few short days, we'll be saying good-bye to another year ... and hello to a list of new year's resolutions!

I rarely make any resolutions unless there's a strong motivation for seeing it through--like losing weight to fit into clothes I'm going to wear at NRB!  (Yes, sad, but true!)

In all seriousness, though, as I started thinking about this year's resolutions, I was reminded that God has provided me, through Scripture, plenty to consider.  With that, here are a few I've made for 2010:

  • Establish more quiet time (Mark 1:35 ...

Earlier this year, I came across this listener's story from FamilyLife...

Nearly 10 years ago, I heard a series of programs on "FamilyLife Today" about marital affairs--before and after.  At that time, my neighbors were going through a difficult time in their own marriage.  In fact, the husband had already moved out and they had filed for a divorce.  I ordered this tape series and put them in a bag with a letter to my neighbors explaining how much I cared for their family.  The husband listened to the tapes then called his wife and had her listen too ...

The Reason for the Season

You hear people say, "Jesus is the Reason for the Season" or "Keep Christ in Christmas," but how do you live this out when it can be such a busy, hurried time of year?

This Christmas season, Elizabeth George is encouraging us to focus on the original Christmas story in her new special, "An Old-Fashioned Christmas."

She takes us back to Scripture and the prophecy proclaimed in Isaiah 7:14, "The Lord himself will give you a sign.  The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel."

Elizabeth shares that God ...

Fearless with Max Lucado

Max Lucado FearlessI had the unique privilege of celebrating my birthday by enjoying a message from Max Lucado on how to be "fearless." What made it even better was that he sat no more than 20 feet away from me!

Even at 25 years young, I know what it means to be afraid.  Fear, if allowed to take residence in our lives, has the potential to make us miserable! I couldn't think of a better message to launch me into the next stages of my life than the wisdom Max had to impart on being "fearless".

As I enter 2010, despite ...
