Stories of Christian Courage and Hope Renewed

The Christmas season is the perfect time to share Joni's story about the courage and hope expressed while she and Ken traveled to El Salvador for a recent Family Retreat:

"When we arrived at the cinderblock little home of Lenore, it took me awhile to wheel down the rutted dirt path -- my wheelchair sent chickens scattering as Ken helped me into the tiny cinderblock hut with a rusting tin roof.  We had come to see Lenore, a 27-year old blind woman who languishes in bed with severe rheumatoid arthritis, her body covered with hard, crusty sores.

Lenore's home ...

Hindsight Is Always 20/20

Chuck Colson and Mark EarleyIn just a few days we'll be closing out another year and I can't help but become slightly pensive. Have I used 2009 well? Did I make a difference in anyone's life? What will history show happened from the last 365 days...and did I have a part in making it better?

I'll be the first to say I can go a little over-the-top when I start into my New Year's resolutions. But in my defense, it's only because one of the driving desires of my life is to be relevant-for Truth and ...

Do I Look Like I Care?

GFC Day 2 10 10I know there are children around the world tonight that will go to bed hungry.  I know you know that, too.  It's because you and I care what happens to those children that I'm going to outline what Christian radio stations can do to help just one more parent put food into the mouth of their child.

Christmas Greetings from Joni and Friends®

What a joyous time of year . . . Christmas caroling, cookies and hot cocoa.  December is a wonderful month through which we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  Just because it's a holiday though, ministry doesn't slow down at Joni and Friends®.

Here are some prayer points you can keep in mind for the ministry as they prepare for Christmas and a busy 2010:

  • December 13-15: Joni and her traveling companions will be flying to Dallas where she will give the last lecture of our partnership course on disability ministry at Dallas Theological Seminary.
  • Ask God to provide ...

What's Peace On Earth? Jim Garlow Explains!

Jim GarlowI know the holidays have really begun when Christmas Carols become a regular part of my life (I don't count any that I hear before Thanksgiving though). Not a year goes by that I don't end up singing "Peace on Earth and Mercy Mild...God and sinners reconciled." While culture usually drops the latter part of that phrase, Peace on Earth seems to have become a mantra during the holidays. Believers and unbelievers alike regale the season with this slogan, but what is peace? Is it no violence...or total agreement? What about just letting everyone do their ...

Making a List...Checking It Twice!

Christmas ListI'm a big fan of lists!  They help keep my increasingly scattered brain organized.  Santa has one, I have one, and I'm sure you do as well.

I'll  keep this short because I know your list is long, but I'm hoping that close to the top of your list is getting and airing "Telling the Great Story of Christmas" presented by HAVEN Today.

  • Your listeners will hear a woven tapestry of Scripture reading, reflection, and 13 of their favorite Christmas songs... pointing us to God's great love for us in sending His Son Jesus.
  • Long ...
