We talked about Joshua in my Bible Study this week and reflected on how God calls people to specific ministries - how He uses us individually to reach others for Him.
As BGEA celebrates their 60th anniversary this year and reflects on their ministry outreaches, a current web site article shares about Franklin Graham, the calling on his life and how he has preached to more than 7 million people all around the world.
Franklin has been preaching the Gospel in modern cities and rural villages since 1989. In addition to sharing His Word to crowds, Franklin shares about Christ's love with the neediest around the globe as he leads Samaritan's Purse. And since 2001, he has led BGEA in its areas of outreach all with one purpose-to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.
In addition to BGEA and Samaritan's Purse, the article shares that Franklin has an even more important role: father. Franklin and his wife, Jane, have four children-Will, Roy, Edward, and Cissie-and six grandchildren.
"When I think about my dad, Franklin Graham, I don't think about the public Franklin Graham who stands in front of the world speaking on national television or preaching in large stadiums. I think about my dad who led me to Jesus Christ as a young boy," says Will Graham.
Whether on the mission field, in stadiums or on the airwaves through the "Hour of Decision®," all three generations of Grahams have stayed true to the simple message of the Gospel.
"I preach a simple Gospel, a message that some say is not sophisticated enough for today's world," says Franklin. "They wonder how the actions of a Man who lived 2,000 years ago could have any impact on their life today. The truth of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection appears as foolishness to them.
"But for those who believe-those who freely admit they are sinners in need of a Savior-the Gospel is 'the power of God for ... salvation' (Romans 1:16). It's that simple."
