And yet, I can name abused children who've changed my life with their sweet hope and trusting love.
I'm met poverty that has a name, a family, a committed faith in God that puts me to shame.
I see the result of heinous crimes against men, women and children and I praise God for the opportunity to connect with Compassion International, Mercy Ships®, HCJB Global, Samaritan's purse, International Justice Mission, World Vision, Prison Fellowship and so many others who do something about it.
I hear of places like Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and other regions where there's little else but war and conflict, and I see young men and women volunteering to step into harm's way-for me.
And I AM thankful! Thankful to the God of hope.
Isaiah praised God saying:
"O Lord, I will praise Your name. . .
for You have been a strength to the poor,
strength to the needy in distress;
a refuge from the storm,a shade from the heat.
Behold this is our God; we have waited for Him,
He will save us.
This is the Lord.
We have waited for Him.
We will be glad and rejoice in His salvation."
--Isaiah 25:1-9
