I just did something I never thought I would.
I did it because I felt God was asking me to do it.
I spent two weeks in Africa with my teenage daughter on a mission's trip.
I guess that's why it's no wonder that Billy Graham's Advent meditations encourage my heart today.
Mr. Graham reflects on Matthew 1:19-21, "I've often put myself in Joseph's place- imagined his thoughts, his aspirations about the girl to whom he was engaged. But Joseph decided to break the engagement privately. While he was thinking about these things, God's angel appeared to him in a dream to give Joseph an explanation of the situation. All Joseph's suspicions were put away. He accepted what God had said through the angel, and he was immediately married to Mary." (Click here for the complete article.)
I had my reservations about going on a mission's trip to Africa (actually, I had a long list!) But God, in His sovereignty, affirmed in so many ways that my daughter and I were following His plan for our lives.
God calls each one of us to be used uniquely in His Kingdom - what a perfect time of year to consider Mr. Graham's question, "Are you seeking to follow God's call on your life?"
As the ministry of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association reflects on the birth of our Savior, they give thanks for the privilege of ministering to listeners nationwide through the "Hour of Decision®" throughout the year --- fulfilling part of God's call for their ministry.
