For this month--here's what we posted to our News & Insights section!

The Lion Roars Again

AlsanThey were the favorite novels of my childhood by far.  I think I read them at least 3 times each … and if you forced me to pick a favorite … I would pick The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.  Maybe it’s because so much of the story takes place at sea, and I spent long summers as a child on my father’s ship or maybe it was because secretly I wanted to marry Ramundu's daughter (this was long before I met the fetching Amy Chamberlain, now Jacobsen).

I’m excited not just for the premier of the movie ...

I’m shopping in Sierra Leone this Christmas!

Mercy Ships® Eye ExamBlack Friday has already come and gone.  I know for many, it's a day about Christmas shopping and finding the best deals.  I don't know about you, but for me shopping, especially Christmas shopping, is all about blessing others.

This is why I decided to sponsor an eye-exam through Mercy Ships® this Christmas.  It just amazes me that this incredible deal is available all year round!

To think that world-class medical care is given to those living in the world's poorest places gives me a simple but profound joy.  I wish I could go and help these ...

That day…”that will live in infamy!”

The USS Arizona MemorialPearl Harbor Remembrance Day:  December 7, 1941

It's a day, an event brought back into our national conscience on September 11, 2001 when the people of New York City and the people of the United States were attacked.  It drew comparison to the attacks at Pearl Habor as an "even worse disaster!"

For the generation who grew up in the aftermath of Pearl Harbor and World War 2, the significance of Pearl Harbor has perhaps dimmed, but never lost.

I remember my trip to Pearl in the late 90's, visiting the site of what is now the USS ...

The Tuesday Girls!

Tuesday Girls Life Issues®In this day of political correctness in addressing women-the "Tuesday Girls" are proud to be just that!

For over 30 years, seven women have volunteered with Cincinnati Right to Life helping with mailings, calls and whatever else there is for them to do on a Tuesday each week.

Only two of the seven women now survive-two sisters-both in their 90s.

Today Brad Mattes honored the sisters on his Life Issues® radio program.  As they were working, just like they've done for 30 years, the Life Issues® program aired in their work room.  What a surprise to the "Tuesday Girls ...

Billy Graham--Following the lead of Mary and Joseph in Responding to God

I just did something I never thought I would.

I did it because I felt God was asking me to do it.

I spent two weeks in Africa with my teenage daughter on a mission's trip.

I guess that's why it's no wonder that Billy Graham's Advent meditations encourage my heart today.

Mr. Graham reflects on Matthew 1:19-21, "I've often put myself in Joseph's place- imagined his thoughts, his aspirations about the girl to whom he was engaged. But Joseph decided to break the engagement privately.  While he was thinking about these things ...

KEEP IT SIMPLE THIS CHRISTMAS

kisDEC2010

When you look back at past Christmas celebrations, what would you change? (And, you can’t include uninviting Uncle Harry and his dog!).

Would you spend less, cook less, or would you have skipped one of the many Christmas party invitations?  Maybe you would have even taken a relaxing vacation!

One thing I would change would be to have done less, and enjoyed the season more.

Every summer I create a Christmas project schedule (yes, I’m a little obsessed with planning ahead), but this year I was thrown off schedule by a couple of months, and was beginning to ...
