Getting the Most from Social Media

Social Media Strategy MeetingIt's what we all want, isn't it? We want to see our organization, station, or ministry reap all the benefits social media can offer. We hear of the big success stories from organizations like Cocoa Cola, Starbucks, Toyota, and Unicef. Now the question that's flooding conversations from top management down is "how do we optimize our Social Media impact?"

The answer? Integrate it into a holistic strategy.

Inspired by my pastor's series this summer ... name the person and the destination for full credit!

1)  His journey, and life calling, was completely redirected when he experienced blinding light on his road trip.

2)  Out for a desert spin, this guy briefly met a stranger on the way ... the rest is (African) history, they say.

3)  He encountered a carcass and honey on his trek--and later, a trip to the "barber shop."

4)  You might call this the ultimate Stone Soul Picnic ... taking sustenance to his brothers, he ended up with a little larger assignment.

Music Lifts the Soul

I really enjoy music.  Keep in mind, I have no musical talent.  At one time I was quite the singer, but then my voice changed, and let's just say - now, not so much. 

I resonate with the words of Lady Catherine (from my wife's favorite movie - Pride and Prejudice) "There are few people in England, I suppose, who have more true enjoyment of music than myself, or a better natural taste. If I had ever learnt, I should have been a great proficient."  OK maybe I wouldn't be a great proficient, but I really like it.

NRB Research Symposium…Danger and Opportunity

At the start of the NRB Research Symposium, Robert McFarland shared a great piece of insight that framed the rest of the time. We're hearing of "crisis" all the time--economically, geographically, organizationally. The Chinese symbol for "crisis" is composed of two characters--Danger and Opportunity. People are leaving the Church, ministries are facing lay-offs, donors are dwindling and policies are threatening religious freedom. But this danger is coupled with more opportunity to reach generations than ever before. When all was said and done, I was floored by the potential available for Christian Media today!
