While most of the country's schools are back in session, we're enjoying the final weeks of summer here in California, but acknowledging the need to start getting prepared for a new season.
I just read a recent piece by author, Elizabeth George, who reminded me that while I get my kids ready for school with new clothes and school supplies, I need to be preparing them spiritually too.
She goes onto share that part of being "A Woman After God's Own Heart" is modeling for our children a pursuit after God which means making prayer time and the study of God's Word a priority over other demands of the day.
In our family, we have made renewed commitments to spend more time together, reading through the Bible and putting verses to memory. While it won't be easy with a busied schedule, I pray that the Lord will help us stay dedicated while increasing our knowledge of Him.
"These words which I command you today will be in your heart. Teach them diligently to your children, talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk, when you lie down, and when you rise up." Deuteronomy 6:6/7
Here's to a great "school" year ahead!
