News & Insights

With 50 years of experience, we "get" that things are always changing! That's why we've dedicated a section of our website to provide the very latest information about the speakers and ministries we serve--and about us, too. Come take a look at "what's new"--or use the sidebar options to take a deeper look at areas of particular interest. In case you wonder what we think, we've dedicated a space for commentary (including guest posts). And take a look at who's been to Ambassador lately in our own version of the Greenroom!

Dentist Visit

Dental Tools Mercy ShipJust admit it.  You hate going to the dentist.  My experiences have told me that the dentist office is a loud and scary place that haunts me in my darkest dreams!  Recently, however, I had no choice but to go to the dentist several times to get some major dental work done.  Although the very thought of a high speed drill inside my mouth made me feel nauseous, I was thankful for the end result.  My teeth and gums were healthier, allowing me to actually chew on my food on both sides of my mouth.  No longer did I have ...

Jim and Carol Garlow

Jim and Carol GarlowIf you've been keeping up with life in the Garlow's household, you'll know that these past several days have had moments of incredible celebration...and other moments of profound sobriety. For a full re-cap, visit Jim Garlow's facebook page and read his notes.  But here's the abbreviated version.

The youngest two Garlows, Josie and Jake, graduated high school this year. A time traditionally packed with festivities and family, the Garlows' celebration held a different tone.  The recent news of Carol's cancer returning and the ensuing measure to fight it led to Carol being scheduled ...

Die Hard Fans

Soccer Ball KickGlory and honor.  This is what awaits those who win the World Cup.  Pride and bragging rights are what the winning country earns.

How long, however, will it last?  Who really remembers who won the 2006 and 2002 world cups, let alone the world cups from 20-30 years ago?  Don't get me wrong.  I love watching the games and cheered like crazy during the 2002 world cup game where South Korea sadly lost against Turkey and ended up in 4th place.  Nonetheless, these games don't bring about any lasting changes.

Who are the real heroes in your life ...

And soon I'll have another reason to look forward to Sunday mornings - our pastor's wife, who leads our Sunday School Class, has selected Anne Graham Lotz's Into the Word for our next Bible Study curriculum!

Our Sunday School Class, "His Alone," is ...

Is there a human on the other end?

HCJB Facebook PageI was sitting in a doctor's office awaiting a travel vaccine.  Ouch!  I posted my "woes" to my Facebook account from my phone and within five minutes had a few responses to my "status update" from friends offering sympathy.

Why did I "broadcast" my day's activities?  I suppose that, in an often-impersonal doctor's office, I was feeling the need for a little human connection.  I wouldn't have done it if I believed there wasn't anyone on the other end.

The same is true for people connecting with an organization's Facebook page.  More often than ...

Got Time for Your Spouse?

When's the last time you had a getaway weekend with your spouse?

That's the question I recently asked a few friends.  Surprising, only one couple said they actually make time for each other.  The other couples spend their days and weekends running kids to and from soccer games, tending to an elderly parent, and/or managing the pressures of a career.  Admittedly, they said they don't make time to getaway, much less schedule a date night.

FamilyLife understands that life can get in the way of marriage. That's why they developed the Weekend to Remember®  getaway ...
