"Maintaining harmony in marriage has been difficult since Adam and Eve. Two people trying to go their own selfish, separate ways can never hope to experience the oneness of marriage as God intended. The prophet Isaiah portrayed the problem accurately more than 2,500 years ago when he described basic human selfishness like this: "All of us like sheep have gone astray, each of us have turned to his own way. (Isaiah 53:6)"
Dennis and Barbara Rainey (An excerpt from an article at FamilyLife.com. Read more here...).
So how does a couple achieve marital oneness? In July, "FamilyLife Today" answers that question by providing listeners with some important tools for building unity in their marriage. Dennis Rainey starts by helping couples understand the five Threats to Oneness:
- Difficult adjustments
- The 50/50 relationship
- Inevitable challenges
- Extramarital "affairs"
- Selfishness
Bob Lepine then tackles the many factors that can impact Marital Intimacy. Rounding out this broadcast series, Dennis and Bob cover other issues challenging marriages today--resolving conflict and communication. It's just a sampling of what couples can hear at a Weekend to Remember® getaway this fall.

Realizing there are many marriages that can benefit from this 2-½ day conference, FamilyLife offers, for a limited time, a chance to attend an upcoming Weekend to Remember® at half-price. Those that register during this time will also receive Spouse-ology (a game for married couples)! Check out FamilyLifeToday.com beginning July 18, and click on the blue suitcase for all the details.
Do you have some fun "summer date" ideas you'd be willing to share? If so, send me your suggestions in the comment section below! We may use them in a future post. :-)
Stay cool!
