Heroes in my life

While watching "I am number four" recently, I was struck by how much I wanted to possess super powers. I want to be the superhero and 'save the day.' Cliché, I know . . . but true! That got me thinking about the real life heroes that I've had (and continue to have) in my life: My father, my grandfather, and of course, my wife.  These are all people who have impacted me in truly special ways.

This year I was given the opportunity to work with another hero of mine. Standing up for the sanctity of human life, Brad Mattes' daily Life Issues^® feature inspires me to change the world. Brad has a humble and gentle spirit, yet he is able to 'tough it out' in the harshest socio-political environments.

Life Issues^®, however, is just one of the many things that Brad does! The Life Issues^® Institute, of which he is the executive director, is also partnering in an exciting video project to reach the young Black American population.

"The abortion industry Abortion kills 1,000 black babies every day in the United States. Over 15,000,000 have been killed since 1973. That's more than the entire populations of Los Angeles, Detroit, Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Washington DC, Oakland, Houston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Miami, and Baltimore COMBINED. In New York City, home of Planned Parenthood, 60% of all black pregnancies are aborted," says Brad.

While Brad may not have any supernatural skills (that I know of), he does have a super tender and loving heart! Unfortunately, as you may know, his physical heart is having some problems, forcing him to undergo surgery this upcoming Monday. Thank you for taking a moment to pray for both Brad and his wife Ellen. We may not have supernatural powers of healing, but God does! (Who needs superheroes when we have God?)
