It all began with what the ancient Romans called, the "Dog Star!" Sirius was the brightest star in the sky. And because it was so bright, the Romans thought it made the days hotter. Nah! It's the tilt of the earth in the days between July 24 to the end of August, that brings on the hottest days of summer-at least in our latitude! And if you're living in the East, Central or Southern part of the U.S. you know what I'm barkin' about!
We pups need lots of water when it's so hot-and extra treats!

Extra treats these days come in the form of deliciously fresh and slurpy mangos that fall from the tree, outside my home. That is, when I can get away with eating it. My folks have to do mango patrol every morning when they let me out. And, of course, I'm not allowed out very long during these Dog Days of Summer in South Florida. Don't laugh! You try breathing through a puggy nose!
