What's Changed And What Hasn't

These days I'm reflecting how much has changed through the years . . . and, conversely, how little has changed.  As my oldest turns 18 this month, I recall what the world was like in 1993 and what it's like today.

Then:  The year Rachel was born, Intel introduced the Pentium Processor, Beanie Babies were launched and Sleepless in Seattle was a box office hit.  I was a young mother anxious for guidance on how to raise a little girl and reading The Strong Willed Child by Dr. James Dobson.

Now:  I use an iPad.  My youngest has WebKinzs -- plush toys which double as virtual online pets.  3D movies are commonplace. I'm learning to adjust to having a college bound daughter and anxious for guidance as I quickly read over notes I made in Dr. Dobson's book, Bringing Up Girls.

The world's trends and technologies may have changed through the years, but what hasn't changed is a mom's desire to raise her daughter in admonition of the Lord.  And I join the many that are thankful Dr. Dobson continues in his commitment to help equip parents raise Godly families as this week's "Family Talk" broadcasts include a three part series on the Strong Willed Child and a heartfelt message from Dr. Dobson on God's designed order for marriage.

P.S.  And, having just returned from Houston where Dr. Dobson joined Governor Perry in The Response, an event calling the nation to prayer, listeners will hear from Dr. Dobson on Friday's broadcast about what the church's response should be in this crucial time in our nation's history.
