What's the prize?

Bag of changeJust for fun, I asked some friends to guess how much money was in a bag of change. Full of quarters, dimes and pennies, as well as couple of dollar coins, this was a difficult challenge. The guesses varied from $12 to over $80! The only consistency was the question - "what's the prize?"

Many of us are driven by rewards. I'm certainly geared that way. I do things because there's something 'in it' for ME. Jesus, on the other hand, acted out of a compassionate heart. He wasn't motivated by prizes . . . He simply wanted to reconcile man back to God! He performed miracles because the world around him broke his heart!

The volunteer staff of Mercy Ships® is motivated by the same reason. They have left the comfort of their homes in order to love on those who are trapped by both physical and spiritual poverty. For them, it's not about a prize they might win; it's about bringing hope and healing in Jesus name.

Mercifully, Jesus already paid the price so that we can receive the greatest prize of a restored relationship with God. I believe that this is exactly why we are in this industry - we want to share the good news and bring healing. Thank you for choosing to partner with the Mercy Ships® team by airing their daily 1:00 "The Mercy Minute®" feature as a part of your outreach strategy!
