Temptation … it seems to be everywhere. It assaults us daily at home, at work, even in the car. No place seems safe.
I was listening to a HAVEN Today Broadcast this week and heard Charles Morris share from Christ’s temptation in Matthew Chapter 4 – when the Son of God was himself tempted
…tempted to doubt the word of God (as we often are)
…tempted to demand things from the Lord and put him to the test (he becomes our “genie”)
…tempted to worship things other than God.
Jesus fought these temptations with the Word of God.
When we are tempted will we trust in our own efforts or will we trust in the work of Jesus? Will we believe God’s Word that says we will not be tempted beyond what we are able? Will we hide God’s Word in our hearts so that we might not sin against Him?
This is one of the reasons why I treasure Charles’ ministry so very much – he is constantly pointing us to God’s Word as he “tells the great Story….it’s all about Jesus.”
It seems no place is safe, but the reality is that everyplace is safe…because the Good Shepherd is with us.
