Is Prayer a Waste of Time?

According to John MacArthur, it can be if you don't understand its purpose.

Just recently, I came across this letter from a "Grace to You^®" listener. 

Dear John,

I have grown immensely spiritually because of your ministry's focus on expository teaching of the Word. Thank you for helping me truly study my Bible and learn what God's Word actually says, not what someone thinks it says. ... Please don't change one bit, but keep taking a strong stand for the Truth, and never compromise, because that is a trait many young people like myself were never really taught is a virtue; we were always told that's divisive so don't take a firm stand for anything.

So thanks for being Biblical and not wishy-washy. It helps many other Christians like myself understand what we should already be doing.

When I read this letter it brought to mind the thousands of people in attendance at the Truth Matters conference this past Labor Day weekend.  I had a chance to hear many stories just like Mark's ... lives that were being impacted because of hearing "Grace to You^®" on their local radio station.  Personally, it was an exciting weekend and one that has given me afresh a desire to not only study the Word of God, but become a student of it.
