Surprises

By the time you have three children, as I do, you think you know a thing or two about being a parent.

Of course, it doesn't start out that way.  When my oldest was born, I bought a "mini library" of resource books. Then, your children grow and you find you have more answers to everyday parenting challenges than you ever imagined you would!

Still, there can be surprises  . . . as the "not-so-everyday" parenting challenges arise.  That's why so many parents (like me!) are so appreciative of "Family Talk with Dr. James Dobson."

Along with lots of prayer, I still need "resources" to help navigate the changing tide of raising children in today's society  . . . so vastly different than it was just a decade ago:

  • A 18 year old girl texting my 15 year old boy.
  • My 9 year old daughter seeing a picture of Chaz Bono on a magazine cover and trying to make sense of the caption - "Boy or Girl?"
  • Monitoring my teenager's Facebook activity - explaining why he needs to "un-friend" some "friends" whose updates include profanity and questionable pictures.

All "surprises" I want to respond to with sound Biblical principles . . . enter Dr. Dobson and "Family Talk."

With program topics such as "Christian Men and Sexuality" and upcoming programs addressing marriages and family . . . along with new weekly parenting videos featuring Dr. Dobson's advice on subjects that affect families, parents can feel encouraged and strengthened even amidst today's dramatically changing society.

And  . . . better equipped for the "surprises."

P.S.  Thank you for your continued prayers for Dr. Dobson - released from the hospital this past Friday, he is expected to soon return to the "Family Talk" studio. Read the latest update here!
