Wind Storms and Life Priorities

This past week, a hurricane-like wind storm wreaked havoc in parts of LA County resulting in  . . .   

> downed power lines and exposed live wires resulting in loss of electricity

> toppled and uprooted trees

> closed roads, schools and businesses

This past week, I was reminded about the priority of family . . . 

> no school meant children were unrepentantly home for the day . . . time for pickup basketball games, walks in the neighborhood

> no electricity meant video and electronic games weren't options but board games were

> without electricity, it was dinner by candlelight without TV while we shared about our day

In the fullness of our regular days, it's easy to get caught up and neglect the simple importance of family time . . . nothing like a wind storm to redirect priorities.   

This week on "Family Talk with Dr. James Dobson," Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann and her husband, Dr. Marcus Bachmann visit with the Family Talk team as they reflect on the priority of family and faith. Listeners will be encouraged as they hear Congresswoman Bachmann share about how her concern over what the Minnesota public schools were teaching inspired this wife and mom to get involved and do something about it. 

In parts two and three of the program series, Congresswoman Bachmann talks with Dr. Dobson about how poverty and divorce interrupted her life and how forgiveness had its freeing work.  The Bachmanns will also share with listeners about what a "core conviction" is and how it can be instilled within us at a very young age.

Also, coming up later this month on "Family Talk," Lt. Col Steve Russell shares the enthralling account of his troop's capture of Saddam Hussein.   And, Dr. Bill Bennett joins Dr. Dobson and the Family Talk team to talk about The Value of Manhood.
