What It Means to be an Ambassador for Christ

During the Month of March, a ministry theme the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association is examining is what it means to be an ambassador for Christ.  (Of course, we at Ambassador have a distinct affinity for that admonition--2 Corinthians 5:20!)

In this month's ministry letter, Billy Graham reminds us how Satan will do everything he can to divert us from the message of Scripture and how we must stand firm.

"Today, if you want to be used of God, if you want people to turn from false messiahs and listen to you, if you want to turn people from darkness unto light and from the power of Satan unto God, you and I must speak, we must work, and we must live with that authority that our Lord Himself had." Mr. Graham.

And being Ambassadors for Christ is exactly what BGEA is doing as days after a deadly earthquake and massive tsunami hit the northeastern coast of Japan, BGEA and Samaritan's Purse are partnering with churches in Japan to bring Christian relief to hurting people.

The effort is the latest in a long history of outreach to Japan, dating back to Billy Graham's Crusades in 1956, 1980 and 1994, as well as a tour during the Korean War. Franklin Graham conducted an evangelistic festival in Okinawa in 2006 and in Osaka last October.

Samaritan's Purse has deployed a five-person disaster assistance response team to begin responding and determine further needs on the ground. Team members departed on Sunday, and all are expected to arrive in Tokyo Tuesday afternoon.

As Mr. Graham notes, "We Christians are holding the light, and we're to let it shine."  Letting their light shine - on radio through the "Hour of Decision®" and "Decision Minute" or on the ground in Japan - being ambassadors for Christ and reminding and equipping believers to do the same!
