It is often during international game events, where the world gathers in great numbers, that sex trafficking becomes heightened. And where there is sex trafficking, children are in grave danger of evil people who steal children by the hundreds and thousands off the streets of the world to satisfy the desires of those who prey on the vulnerable.
UNICEF reports that across the world, over one-million children enter the sex trade every year.
Wess Stafford, President of Compassion International, the world's largest Christian child development organization, reminds us that sex trafficking and poverty are joined at the hip. And we are called-commanded-to pray for these little ones. To pray for the weak and the vulnerable. And there's no better time than in these days leading up to the XXX Olympiad in London.
And if you're sponsoring a Compassion child in high-risk areas like Thailand, Brazil and Colombia where impoverished children are highly susceptible to the pressures of human trafficking, you can be assured every worker is trained to spot signs of child abuse and child trafficking. Compassion child development centers are a place where a child's dignity is protected, children learn they are valued and loved with every right to become all God created them to be.
