This Little Light of Mine...

candlesI'm sure you all know the Children's Sunday School song...

This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.

This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

Won't let Satan blow it out.

I'm gonna let it shine.

Won't let Satan blow it out.

I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

This is one of my favorites and was the image that came to mind last week when I had the pleasure of hearing Elizabeth George speak at a women's event here in Irvine.

As she outlined the Biblical basis for getting up early, living in moderation, maintaining a household, and taking care of our physical bodies, her sincerity was obvious. She really and truly cared for each woman in attendance. Elizabeth wished to communicate something that would help each of us live better for the Lord.

This passion of Elizabeth's is so powerful because of its root in Scripture. And even though it is great, we shouldn't assume anything is too small to apply Scripture to! Even cleaning out a cupboard or taking out the trash.

But in order to be impacted by Scripture we must be IN Scripture. As Elizabeth reminded us last week - Time spent in Scripture is never spent in vain (2 Timothy 3:16). So as we move into August let's remember to be in the Word and thankful that Elizabeth has allowed her "little light" to shine.

Serving with you,

Melissa
