Standing Against the Tide

Jim Garlow -- Against the TideStanding against the tide.

There's no one who more consistently exemplifies that for me than Jim Garlow.

Just last Sunday, his congregation at Skyline Church heard a fascinating exchange between four individuals--a "conversation" that included Pittsburgh Theological Seminary professor, Robert Gagnon, and Jennifer Roback Morse (Ruth Institute Founder) who support traditional marriage... juxtaposed with two others who are advocates of "same sex marriage" ... John Corvino who is head of the Department of Philosophy at Wayne State University and Bishop Eugene Robinson, the first openly gay person ordained as bishop in the Episcopal Church.

Here's Jim's summation of the evening's dialog:  Quite an amazing event ... Large crowd / courteous ...  All panelists were respectful ... Scripture on one side, Stories on the other ... Truth on one side, Emotion on the other.  It was so obvious (to those with spiritual eyes) ... Everyone left very grateful for a truly thoughtful, respectful, civil discourse, honoring of all persons.

Jim was also recently in Washington DC to share at the "A Man of Prayer" Event ... you can hear that timely message here.

While defending the biblical view of marriage, Jim has uniquely engaged those with the opposing view, truly shining the Light of Truth into places that would otherwise remain dark.  Pray for Jim as he continues to speak into our culture, in so many arenas, proclaiming the Christian worldview where it would not otherwise be heard.  And inviting forthright exchange, even fellowship, with those who have need to know the power of the love of Christ as well.

And ... please do continue to pray for Carol Garlow whose valiant battle with cancer remains an urgent concern.  You can always get an update at Jim's Facebook page.  Frankly, it's quite inspiring!
