Blood, Sweat and Compassion

blood-sweatPeople who know me know I'm about as eager to run a mile as a toddler is to take a nap.  Friends tell me they're singing up for a marathon and I respond with, "Have fun.  I'll have breakfast for you at the finish line."  I stay about as far away from anything resembling "endurance sports" as possible, but that doesn't prevent me from living vicariously through the successes of others.  I am always in awe of people who go beyond what others -- and even they themselves -- thinks is possible.

Recently I learned about such a group of people who participate in Blood, Sweat & Compassion.  It's an exciting opportunity to transform lives by taking part in an international adventure with Compassion.  Their mission?  Raising money and awareness to support Compassion's Leadership Development Program -- an incredible program that release young adults from poverty in Jesus' name.  They do this through a once-in-a-lifetime challenge, testing themselves through rigorous physical challenges like hiking the Inca Trail in Peru or climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa.

While I admit these adventures sound somewhat appealing, I'm just as grateful Compassion provides several opportunities to get involved in raising awareness for child poverty.  One of them is airing "Speak Up With Compassion®", a daily 1:00 feature heard on Christian radio stations across the country.

If you haven't already, will you air "Speak Up With Compassion®" today?  No blood or sweat required!

. . . and if you sign-up for The Kilimanjaro Challenge in February 2013 please let me know!  I'll be at the bottom of the mountain waiting for you with breakfast.
