Your Assignment to Speak Up With Compassion®

Blog for CompassionHas this ever happened to you?  I was going through my morning round of email sorting and began the usual routine of filtering messages -- I need to do this, I will read this later, I'm replying to this now, etc.  I quickly read an email about Compassion's Blog Month in September and the exciting opportunity to join writers in changing the world for children in poverty.  I should tell so-and-so about this, I thought.  I continued clicking away at my inbox without another thought.  This went on for a few minutes when I realized Someone had been tapping ...

Eternal Labor

Did you know that Labor Day was actually first established as a national holiday in 1882? Two years later, the first Monday in September was selected as the official "working man's holiday."

Today, most of us anticipate the holiday as summer's "last hooray" - in my family it's always a weekend of camping adventures with my cousins and grandparents.

Over a hundred years ago, working conditions were far different than today. For most Americans and their 8-hour work days in safe environments complete with benefits...it might be hard to remember why some of our forefathers fought so ...

A text message saying "I'm sorry" can't convey all of the emotion and feeling a conversation over a cup of coffee can hold.

In this increasingly digital world I think it is ...

Help for Today ... Hope for Tomorrow

That's the ministry focus of FamilyLife -- providing help to people in every stage of life, and no matter what circumstances they find themselves in, giving them the hope only found in Jesus Christ.  This is clearly evident in the subjects "FamilyLife Today" is addressing in September:

  • surrending a homosexual lifestyle
  • surviving divorce
  • Bible learning for kids
  • encouraging the broken-hearted
  • walking through the empty-nest
  • reaching out to the orphan

Family Facts for Back to School

Our family is making the most of these last few days of summer.  As a mom, I treasure the moments when my pre-teenage son asks me to play catch or watch a movie together.  I know that these are special times with him at home and I want to make the most of it.

I also know that spending time together has a direct impact on how well he performs in school.  With the "back to school" season upon us, all this month, content on the "Family Facts" program from The Heritage Foundation focuses on the relationship between family structure ...
