Tick, tick, tick, tick...

Anyone who watches television on Sunday nights knows this sound and immediately associates one thing.

60 Minutes.

60 Minutes is a television documentary, of sorts. They show the stories that are compelling, sometimes heart wrenching and almost always raw with real life realities.

And, a few weeks ago there was a story that aired that is gaining the attention of people all across the nation. A story of a hospital ship outfitted with the most up to date medical technology. A story of a crew and medical staff willing to make undeniable sacrifices in their own lives to be on board. A story of healing as hopeful people needing a miracle take a few cautious steps onto the ship - to be forever changed. 

The story of Mercy Ships^® and its ministry in West Africa has captured the hearts of all who sat down that Sunday evening to watch. What a beautiful reminder of the amazing things that can be accomplished in God's name.

And the word is spreading. People are talking. Eyes have been opened. Hearts are being warmed.

And dialogue is starting. Even a conversation I shared with my own mom reveals the kind of wave that is forming.

"I had no idea those kind of tumors could grow like that. I just had no idea."

I had no idea.

But now we know. What do we do with this knowledge? How to we make a difference?

People are already responding. The ministry has seen an incredible spike of interest and support. Since the story aired, the ministry has received over 609 volunteer application downloads. Before the broadcast, they averaged 19 downloads per day.

What an amazing platform God has provided! Continue to pray as the Africa Mercy dives deep into the ministry of healing the people of West Africa, both physically and spiritually.
