It all began with what the ancient Romans called, the "Dog Star!" Sirius was the brightest star in the sky. And because it was so bright, the Romans thought it made the days hotter. Nah! It's the tilt of the earth in the days between July 24 to the end of August, that brings on the hottest days of summer-at least in our latitude! And if you're living in the East, Central or Southern part of the U.S. you know what I'm barkin' about!
