Rejoicing with the Garlows

Jim and CarolRejoicing!

I don't know if you are one of Jim Garlow's friends on Facebook … but in case you are not, I wanted to let you know what happened today.

"Carol and I are in Houston's MD Anderson Cancer Center where she is about to go into surgery - around 7:15am - for liver survey- a left hepatectomy. Dr. will remove 40% of liver in our soon-to-be victorious battle with cancer."
"Many have recommend Ps 91 for Carol during this time. Just read it to her. Loved the end of the chapter. "with long life I(God) will satisfy ...

Three Ways to Use Time Wisely

Fall - with all its beauty and cooler days, is here.  Amidst the changing seasons though, is the return to the busy days - school, homework, and the to-do list items which were laid aside during the carefree summer days.

That 's why I really appreciated the following reminder from Billy Graham -- Three Ways to Use Time Wisely:

First, time is a trust. What are we doing with it? Are we frittering it away, letting it slip through our fingers, squandering it in wanton waste? Or are we treasuring it, using it to maximum advantage, filling every minute with 60 seconds' worth ...

Is Prayer a Waste of Time?

According to John MacArthur, it can be if you don't understand its purpose.

So how then are we supposed to pray?  On "Grace to You®" this month, John takes us verse-by-verse through the Lord's Prayer (Matt. 6:5-14) and provides us with specific instruction on the purpose, priority, plan, provision, and pardon of prayer.  This classic 4-week study of The Disciples' Prayer (airs 10/10 - 11/4) will reveal that the example Christ gave his disciples then ... is also for us today.  To find out more about the messages and materials available in October, download the promo pack ...

Seeing a Bright Future

"I am hopeful for a bright future for my child."

I can think of many moms who would agree with that statement.  In fact, with school back in session it's likely that moms of school-aged kids are particularly attentive to thoughts of their child's future.

Those moms who are driving their kids to and from school who are tuning in to Christian radio hear messages that support their concern.  One of those messages comes from Compassion International through its daily 1:00 feature, "Speak Up With Compassion®."  Compassion President Wess Stafford daily talks about the importance of speaking ...

Temptation

Temptation of Jesus

Temptation … it seems to be everywhere.  It assaults us daily at home, at work, even in the car.  No place seems safe.

I was listening to a HAVEN Today Broadcast this week and heard Charles Morris share from Christ’s temptation in Matthew Chapter 4 – when the Son of God was himself tempted

…tempted to doubt the word of God (as we often are)

…tempted to demand things from the Lord and put him to the test (he becomes our “genie”)

…tempted to worship things other than God.

Jesus fought these temptations with the Word of God.

When we are ...

A Brown Package

It was just about this time last year that I was preparing for a missions trip to Africa.  Things seemed to be falling into place, when, just days away from boarding the plane, a brown package arrived on my doorstep.

The doctor called to let me know that my mom's mammogram reflected something which warranted a second look -- immediately.

In Anne Graham Lotz's recent A Wake-Up for God's People simulcast, she shares how God sometimes allows brown packages to come into our lives . . . because He has a treasure on the inside.

I have to admit that while ...
