Ministry Updates

My deepest desire is to be a Woman after God's Own Heart . . .  a godly woman.  One molded by and used of God.  And, without God's leading and intervention it won't happen.  That is my daily prayer.

Elizabeth George (A Woman after God's Own Heart) says that praying to become a godly woman is a worthy prayer, but she also asks, "What does a godly woman do?  How does she act?  What is it about her that marks her out as a godly woman?"

Those are the answers I need.   Elizabeth points to Titus 2:3-5 where you will find the character qualities of a godly woman.  She says the 10 most important priorities for women are:

Wisdom

Godly Speech

Love of Husband

Love of Family

Love of Home

Purity

Personal Discipline

Goodness

Ministry to Others

Christ-like Behavior

If you share Elizabeth's and my prayer to become a godly woman, read Titus 2:3-5 and ask God to show you how to develop these qualities in your life.  It won't be an overnight change, but it will be well worth the end results!

Blessings,

Sheri Cooper

How Your Soul is Like a Hard Drive

woman-typing-upwords-april-2016

"Your brain is dead."

Jon's words pierced.  In our office, Jon Davis, Manager of Technical Services, often uses medical metaphors to explain computer problems to us.  I find those parallels extremely helpful.  This week, my PC's hard drive crashedand in one instant, my daily partner in productivity couldn't remember its identity, perform tasks, or recall the last two years we'd spent together.

Its brain was dead.  I was mortified.

After a day of assembling, activating, and programming the new hard drive, Jon had my machine up and running again.  All was well.

But rebellion struck ...

One Minute Mother's Day Reflections

My mom has been an amazing blessing in my life and in the lives of my children.  Esperanza, which means hope in Spanish, has lived with my children and I for over a decade.  She is 80 now and I'm keenly aware of how fleeting and precious time with her is now.

Brad Mattes notes in a special Mother's Day "Life Issues®" radio series that Mother's Day is the perfect time to recall all the things your mom has done for you throughout your life:

"First and foremost she gave you life.  Your mom struggled through the ...

Evangelism Explosion’s D. James Kennedy Center for Christian Statesmanship Turns 20!

Twenty years ago, the late D. James Kennedy, founder of Evangelism Explosion International and senior pastor at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, had a vision to evangelize our elected leaders in the nation's capital.

As a result, Evangelism Explosion opened The Center for Christian Statesmanship (TCCS) in Washington, D.C., headquartered in a brownstone less than a block from the U.S. House office buildings. Since that time, the center has impacted thousands of lives by bringing a gospel witness, Christian discipleship and a vision for Christian statesmanship to government leaders.

On April 7, 2016, the center marked its 20 ...

National Day of Prayer (May 5th)

"We are called to pray in such a way that mountains will be moved-- not just for ourselves, but for others." (Pastor Carter Conlon)

mrmrsMy wedding day is less than ten days away, which can only mean one thing: chaos.

With a mind that's everywhere, a to-do list never ending, and a heart that is ready, prayer has been the one thing (alongside a very understanding fiancé) that's kept me sane.

In the newly recorded National Day of Prayer special, "Prayer That Can Move Mountains", Pastor Carter Conlon of Times Square Church invites listeners into the gospel of ...

Reflections from Wilberforce Weekend 2016

I'm back from a whirlwind weekend in Washington, DC where I along with colleagues Evelyn Gibson and Bill Reitler attended the Colson Center's annual Wilberforce Weekend conference.

This year's theme was "Restoring All Things: Christ's Work, Our Calling" with a focus on these areas:

  • Promote Good - what is good in our culture that we can promote, protect, celebrate?
  • Resist Evil - what is evil in the culture that we can counter?
  • Restore All Things - what is broken in our culture that we can restore?

Reflecting on all that the speakers shared, I'd describe our time together ...
