Ministry Updates

A Heart for Purity

It can be a lonely place when you stand for your convictions and go against the flow, choosing to live life God's way.

As Nancy Leigh DeMoss shared on a recent "Revive Our Hearts" program, "if you're going to live a righteous life, if you're going to walk with God, it's going to be, in some senses, lonely.  It's the majority who walk the way of the world, the way of their own flesh, the way of their own sin, who end up under the wrath and the condemnation and the judgment of God.  It ...

Never Heard of You

Compassion International VolunteerThere are words that every ministry dreads to hear from a potential donor:

"Never heard of you."

Your breath catches in your throat, your eyelids blink rapidly.  Confidence in a mission statement or clever tagline suddenly feels useless when meeting someone who has never...heard...of...you.

This happened to me as a volunteer with Compassion International recently at a Fishfest music festival for KFSH-Los Angeles.

I suppose I knew it was possible I'd meet folks who had never heard of Compassion, but I didn't expect it to be the first person I met at the sponsorship booth ...

The Power of a Worldview

Coming from a background in Apologetics, I absolutely love Chuck Colson and John Stonestreet's commitment to developing strong biblical worldviews. Every day they share about cultural and worldwide news, interpreting it through a Christian lens. The day they will find out if it's effective is July 13...please join us in continuing to pray for ...

Blessed are the Peace Makers, for they shall be called the children of God

peacedoveAs a pastor I don’t think I see anything that causes more havoc in people’s lives than broken relationships.

Children who can’t forgive their parents

Spouses who have “irreconcilable differences”

Neighbors who have not paid their “pound of flesh”

The tendency is so often to just walk away (From a family or a neighborhood, or a church).  We, as children of God are called to something different.

Forgiveness

Grace

Reconciliation

Peace Making

This week, as I was listening to Charles Morris on HAVEN Today (7/22-24) I was convicted - because yes I too can fall prey to ...

Joni and Friends®— Family Retreats

When you're dealing with something hard, it can feel at times that no one else in the world is going through the same thing you are. No one understands, there is no one else out there like me, I'm alone and set apart.

Family at Joni and Friends® Family RetreatI felt that way the most when it came to physical and occupational therapy. I was young and learning how to use my prosthetic arm to accomplish every day tasks was daunting. It was hard. It hurt. I wasn't doing it right. I felt so alone and I'm sure my parents were distressed ...
