Ministry Updates

My deepest desire is to be a Woman after God's Own Heart . . .  a godly woman.  One molded by and used of God.  And, without God's leading and intervention it won't happen.  That is my daily prayer.

Elizabeth George (A Woman after God's Own Heart) says that praying to become a godly woman is a worthy prayer, but she also asks, "What does a godly woman do?  How does she act?  What is it about her that marks her out as a godly woman?"

Those are the answers I need.   Elizabeth points to Titus 2:3-5 where you will find the character qualities of a godly woman.  She says the 10 most important priorities for women are:

Godly Speech

Love of Husband

Love of Family

Love of Home

Personal Discipline

Ministry to Others

Christ-like Behavior

If you share Elizabeth's and my prayer to become a godly woman, read Titus 2:3-5 and ask God to show you how to develop these qualities in your life.  It won't be an overnight change, but it will be well worth the end results!

Abortion Crossroad

Brad Mattes, host of the daily 1:00  commentary, "Life Issues®" and President of the Life Issues® Institute, recently noted, "In the 40 years that I've been working in the pro-life movement, these last few weeks have been the most dramatic and impactful. I pray that Americans won't just be shocked and then return to things as usual. If we're able to feed the passion created by these videos, I'm confident we can end this modern-day holocaust of abortion. Please God, let it be so!"

A Christ-centered Look at Life

I'm a young woman searching for something my generation hasn't found.  It's something
Janet Mefferd
offers.  She's been in Christian radio long enough to know what needs to be said.  Her credentials as a journalist, a gifted writer, a newscaster and a daily broadcaster advocating for biblical truth, make Janet Mefferd the ideal spokesperson to today's culture.

Janet Mefferd says, “I believe more than ever that we need to tell the truth about God's Word to this dying culture, and to put the news we're hearing into a solid biblical context."

And that ...

Engaging with the Book of Books

It was a normal Sunday morning.  I sat in church, my Bible covering my lap.  Nicely bound, footnotes included, printed clearly in my native language.  This Bible is especially meaningful to me; it's the one my parents presented to me on my 13th birthday.  That's when they "graduated" me from a kids' study Bible to the "adult version."  It's the only Bible with my name engraved in elegant gold script, and it's graced with a note from my parents on the first page.

I don't often stop to consider all it's taken to ...

Spiritual Invitations

cross and clouds

Do you ever feel like you invite God into your life in the morning and, later that day, wonder where He is?

Much of my reflection recently has focused on where the Lord has placed me-- surrounded by invigorating communities and housed with a family that gives me far more than I deserve.

The problem is that I don't like to depend on others, or in other words..."receiving" does not come naturally.

In one of my recent quiet times, I opened my Bible and felt unrest.  I began to pray and felt unrest-- so much so that I ...

What's Real and True

This coming December, I will have lived five decades.  When you reach a life milestone, it's inevitable that you would reflect more deeply about what's left of your life.  You may also find yourself wishing you could tell your younger self some things about how life really works, about what's real and true . . . about what really matters.

Listening to Joni Eareckson Tada's message at the recent memorial service for Elisabeth Elliot, so many of her reflections on what the life of this hero of the faith meant to her in her spiritual journey ministered to me ...
