Ministry Updates

My deepest desire is to be a Woman after God's Own Heart . . .  a godly woman.  One molded by and used of God.  And, without God's leading and intervention it won't happen.  That is my daily prayer.

Elizabeth George (A Woman after God's Own Heart) says that praying to become a godly woman is a worthy prayer, but she also asks, "What does a godly woman do?  How does she act?  What is it about her that marks her out as a godly woman?"

Those are the answers I need.   Elizabeth points to Titus 2:3-5 where you will find the character qualities of a godly woman.  She says the 10 most important priorities for women are:

Godly Speech

Love of Husband

Love of Family

Love of Home

Personal Discipline

Ministry to Others

Christ-like Behavior

If you share Elizabeth's and my prayer to become a godly woman, read Titus 2:3-5 and ask God to show you how to develop these qualities in your life.  It won't be an overnight change, but it will be well worth the end results!

A Significant Milestone

MacArthur New Testament CommentaryRecently John MacArthur reached a significant milestone that very few Bible teachers have ever accomplished: writing a detailed commentary on every verse of the New Testament.

In follow-up to the completion of The MacArthur New Testament Commentary (a more than 35-year project), Carl Miller asked John on a recent "Grace to You®" broadcast, "What was the most rewarding aspect of this project? The reason countless hours of writing were well-spent?"  Here's John's response ...

The most exhilarating, blessed, triumphant, joyful, convicting experience of my life is to be studying the Word of God.  If you're going to study ...

How I Want My Life to Live

One of the best pieces of design advice I've ever heard is to start not with how you want your home to look but with how you want your home to live.

I've taken that counsel to heart - with three children, church, work, school, sports and just the overall busyness of life, I try to make our home live a "no-fuss" life - while it's orderly (ok, "semi" orderly), the décor is humble and the feel of the house is unpretentious . . . it's a "lived-in" design style.

I've learned through the years that I have to ...

The Paradox

“This is going to hurt me far more than it will hurt you.”

Ever hear that?  I did.  Of course, I couldn’t fathom that statement was true until I had children of my own.  My Dad used his hand to drive home the lesson.  And then, in some great cosmic circular irony, I found myself uttering the same phrase when junior needed some corporal training.  FWIW, I gave up spanking him early on when he started laughing at my angst and poor application of the lesson.

But at school, it was ...

Every Life Is Important in God's Eyes

We posted a question on the Ambassador Facebook page last week – "What are you most looking forward to this Easter?"   My answer: "Time with my family at church on Sunday morning focusing on the One life which saved mine."

And that is exactly what I most cherished about this past Easter Sunday as I sat in church with my children and our pastor shared about how the resurrection of Christ is the story of the Creator's victory over all evil and how it's His invitation to each of us to ...

Conversations at the Harbor

Dana-Point-Harbor-ROTWIt was Friday evening.  I had just left the office and grabbed a chicken shawarma at a nearby Mediterranean place.  Then I decided to kick off the weekend with a drive of indefinite distance down Pacific Coast Highway.  Admiring the beauty and depth of God's creation, I drove through Newport, Corona Del Mar, Laguna ... and ended up at a place I had only seen photos of.  It was Dana Point Harbor.

I easily found parking (an anomaly anywhere near the shore) and strolled about the harbor.  Families ate dinner at a fancy-looking restaurant, couples held hands and cruised down ...
