Ministry Updates

My deepest desire is to be a Woman after God's Own Heart . . .  a godly woman.  One molded by and used of God.  And, without God's leading and intervention it won't happen.  That is my daily prayer.

Elizabeth George (A Woman after God's Own Heart) says that praying to become a godly woman is a worthy prayer, but she also asks, "What does a godly woman do?  How does she act?  What is it about her that marks her out as a godly woman?"

Those are the answers I need.   Elizabeth points to Titus 2:3-5 where you will find the character qualities of a godly woman.  She says the 10 most important priorities for women are:

Wisdom

Godly Speech

Love of Husband

Love of Family

Love of Home

Purity

Personal Discipline

Goodness

Ministry to Others

Christ-like Behavior

If you share Elizabeth's and my prayer to become a godly woman, read Titus 2:3-5 and ask God to show you how to develop these qualities in your life.  It won't be an overnight change, but it will be well worth the end results!

Blessings,

Sheri Cooper

The Tradition of Christmas Carols

This was the year of Christmas songs for my family.

We started playing our Christmas song play list the first week of December and haven't stopped since.  We've added so many songs to the playlist this year - many duplicate songs but by different artists.

We've noted just how much music is a part of Christmas.  We hear the songs in the car, when shopping, at church and we were privileged to hear (and sing) them at Ambassador just a couple of weeks ago when Joni Eareckson Tada was in our studios.

In between recording "Joni and Friends® ...

The Best ADVENTure

Max Lucado - In the MangerGrowing up, one of my favorite things about the holidays was counting down the days until Christmas.  The best part was using my chocolate Advent calendar from Trader Joe's.  Each morning, my sisters and I compared our chocolate pieces, discussed which cardboard compartment was veiling the candy that day, and cast our predictions for the next day's Christmas candy shape.

This year, I counted down in a new way.  I journeyed through Max Lucado's In the Manger, which is both an Advent devotional and the emphasis for Max's daily feature, "UpWords®", this month.  Daily, Max shared ...

New Song "Reach Beyond" with Phil Stacey

Reach Beyond SongPhil Stacey and Chris August have collaborated on the just-released song, "Reach Beyond."  This tune serves as an anthem for all believers who recognize that Jesus reached beyond heaven's glory to this broken world -- and the responsibility we have to reach beyond to others with His message of forgiveness, grace and redemption.

Reach Beyond missionary/musician Ty Stakes penned the lyrics and when Phil and Chris read them, they were so moved that they decided to bring this song to the Christian radio audience.  Phil offered his voice talent and Chris wrote the music, arranged and produced the song ...

Love Came Down at Christmas

"What can I give Him, poor as I am?

If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb.

If I were a Wise Man, I would do my part.

Yet what I can I give Him: give my heart."

You may be familiar with these last four lines of the poem, "In the Bleak Midwinter" which has been recorded by various artists, Christian and secular alike, but you may not know that it was written by the nineteenth-century British poet Christina Rossetti.

On a recent BreakPoint® program, Eric Metaxas shared more about Rossetti's background, saying that she was ...

Christmas Joy

One of my favorite parts about Christmas are the Christmas cards.   I love receiving them  . . . looking at the family pictures, catching up on lives of friends and loved ones.  I also enjoy reading the holiday sentiments.

Wishes of joy is a common sentiment.

After noticing a number of cards with virtually the same phrase, "Wishing you peace and joy this Christmas season," my daughter wondered why "Wishing you joy" was used more than "Wishing you happiness."

In the "Daily Light for Daily Living®" feature airing on December 17th, Anne Graham Lotz explains the difference between joy and happiness:

"Happiness ...

The Joyful Message

woman wonderingChristmas music, holiday decorations, and shopping ... it sounds like Christmas is almost here once again!  Don't you just love the Christmas season?

Elizabeth George (A Woman after God's Own Heart) also loves Christmas and all of the festivities that go with it!  But she reminds us that during this time it's easy for our priorities and our focus on the holiday to get out of line with what God wants for us.

She encourages us not to forget what Christmas is really about -- that we received an incredible perfect gift from God -- his Son, Jesus, and that ...
