Ministry Updates

My deepest desire is to be a Woman after God's Own Heart . . .  a godly woman.  One molded by and used of God.  And, without God's leading and intervention it won't happen.  That is my daily prayer.

Elizabeth George (A Woman after God's Own Heart) says that praying to become a godly woman is a worthy prayer, but she also asks, "What does a godly woman do?  How does she act?  What is it about her that marks her out as a godly woman?"

Those are the answers I need.   Elizabeth points to Titus 2:3-5 where you will find the character qualities of a godly woman.  She says the 10 most important priorities for women are:

Godly Speech

Love of Husband

Love of Family

Love of Home

Personal Discipline

Ministry to Others

Christ-like Behavior

If you share Elizabeth's and my prayer to become a godly woman, read Titus 2:3-5 and ask God to show you how to develop these qualities in your life.  It won't be an overnight change, but it will be well worth the end results!

October is National Down Syndrome Month

Every Sunday after the church service, Jim and I hug and talk about his week.  His weeks don't vary much.  He has school, work  and "fun time."  However, what did vary this week was his response.  When I hugged him goodbye and told him to have a great week, instead of the usual "Okeydokey," Jim's reply was "I've got this."

And you know what?  I know he does.

Jim may have Down syndrome and as a result, face some unique challenges, but through the 20 + years I've known him and watched him grow up with my ...

Do Right and Seek Justice

mercy-ships-africa-mercyLast week, CBS' 60 Minutes was awarded an Emmy for its feature on Mercy Ships® and the largest charity hospital ship, the Africa Mercy.

As I watched the feature, my attention was drawn to one of the nurses, Ali Chandra.  She was gracious and kind, and possessed an obvious passion for serving the people of West Africa.

When the interviewer mentioned to Ali that some documentary viewers may be thinking, "I could never do what she does.  Those poor people are terribly disfigured.  I can't look at them," Ali's response was remarkable.

"People have been saying that to ...

God never says oops!

barry-meguiarHow many people do you know who appear to be happy but are actually in despair and may be lost for eternity unless you intervene?

In one way or another, Barry Meguiar asks that question each day in his feature, "Revival Outside the Walls".  It's his way to "ignite" in each of us God's purpose for our life—which is to lead others to Christ!

Robin Williams' death on August 11, was the catalyst for a special week-long series of highly compelling features beginning October 6.  Barry gives us not only a challenge, but practical and simple ways ...

A Bully Pulpit Pastor for "Clergy Appreciation Month!"

jim-garlowI'm reading and enjoying immensely Doris Kearns Goodwin's book, "The Bully Pulpit:  Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and the Golden Age of Journalism."  "Bully Pulpit" is a term coined by Theodore Roosevelt referring to the White House as a powerful platform to advocate an agenda.

And in this month of "Clergy Appreciation", I can't think of any pastor for whom the term "A Bully Pulpit pastor" fits better, and for whom we have any greater appreciation for, than Pastor Jim Garlow.  He's also heard daily on "The Garlow Perspective."

Jim's agenda is most assuredly biblio-centric ...

Why True Woman

Almost every day I hear about real-life challenges from women in my sphere of influence.  You might say that they are all living IN something, whether it's in love, in pain, in grief, or in trouble.  Each of us are searching for answers that bring relief to whatever circumstance we find ourselves in.  How many find those answers in Christ?

Next week, Revive Our Hearts will welcome a crowd of women (8,300 currently registered!) in Indianapolis for their much-anticipated True Woman '14 National Women's Conference with this year's theme: Finding Freedom, Fullness, and Fruitfulness in Christ ...

Trifecta Partnership

Trifecta Partnership"We are continually amazed by how God provides the resources we need to be the hands, feet and voice of Jesus Christ to many people in our community who do not know Him."

Could that statement have been said by you?  Perhaps you just met your station's sharathon goal.  Or a very large undesignated check came in the mail.  Maybe you got twice as many vendors to donate for your next event.

Unexpected provision from surprising sources leave us amazed with how God provides.

"Partnership" is one way of how God provides -- and Reach Beyond knows that full well ...
