As a friend shared at her father's memorial service this past week, she spoke about the tenets of a father.
Her heartfelt message made me think about the tenets of a Christian walk . . . in the valleys and the mountain top experiences of life.
Listening to "Daily Light for Daily Living®" and "Living the Light" messages from Anne Graham Lotz, I've noted what I deem to be some great tenets of a Christian walk which serve to guide and encourage me in my walk. Here are 10 which are top of mind as we move into this second month ...Read Full Post »

None of us know what 2016 holds - in our own lives, we may enjoy our greatest moments or face our greatest disappointments. The same could be true for our country as a whole - the New Year may bring with it times of peace or times of great unrest.
Moving forward into this New Year, I am reminded by Anne Graham Lotz that prayer is the way to prepare for whatever the next 12 months may bring:
As I look ahead into 2016, I feel compelled to draw a circle around this city, this state, this nation... and pray! Until God ...Read Full Post »

As we focus on the celebration of our Savior's birth this week, there's much in the world to remind us that darkness exists . . . sadly, we experienced this here in Southern California in our own back yard as we watched the tragedy unfold in San Bernardino.
It's these conflicting thoughts of thick darkness and light, of encroaching evil and glory, which are on the mind of Anne Graham Lotz during these days before Christmas:
"Terrorist attacks in Paris, Colorado Springs, and San Bernardino have left us ashen-faced and horrified. Polarization within political parties, corruption at the highest levels ...Read Full Post »

This time of year there's much to do and much on our minds. In addition to the routine of life, with Christmas comes the decorating, festivities and gift buying. More and more it seems we have to make a concerted effort at Christmas to keep the main thing, the main thing.
That's why I'm so thankful for for the wise and Biblical insights shared on "Daily Light for Daily Living®" from Anne Graham Lotz.
Take a moment to look away from your Christmas "to-do list" and think about these 5 things Anne shares in a week series ...Read Full Post »

The Bible teaches that wisdom is extremely valuable. As seasons of life come and go, as my children become young adults and as I experience the passing of years, the more wisdom I seek . . . solid, Biblical wisdom.
I have two favorite Bible verses about wisdom -- Job 12:12 reads, "With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding." I also appreciate what Proverbs 13:20 says about wisdom, "He who walks with wise men will be wise."
While I may not "walk" with spiritual giants like Anne Graham Lotz, I do spend time with her as she shares ...Read Full Post »

Showing compassion is something as believers we'd like to think we're known for . . . extending a hand to those in need, praying for a friend or loved one in a difficult season in life. But, what about compassion for someone who has wronged us . . . who has hurt us deeply - compassion seems elusive in those instances.
This was among our talking points in Sunday School this weekend as we studied II Corinthians 6: 1-10 which states that our "work as God's servants gets validated - or not - in the details." The passage goes on to say that people are watching ...Read Full Post »
