The older I get, the more I'd like to think that I'm focusing on the things which really matter . . . less about the frivolous day-to-day things and more about the eternal. This is a milestone year for me as I turn 50 and with that marker, comes even more introspect.
In an upcoming "Living in the Light" radio program, Anne Graham Lotz asks "when night comes, either by death or rapture . . . five minutes before that takes place, what will you wish you had done differently in your life?"
She goes on to ask, "Will you wish you'd taught ...Read Full Post »

We had a display at church this weekend featuring fragments from the Dead Sea Scrolls and a leaf from the Gutenberg Bible. It was pretty awe inspiring to see up close such amazing treasures dating back to 1455.
I also made sure that my children saw it. As a mom, faith in Christ and building a relationship with Him through His Word is my most important and most privileged priority.
Thinking about the significance of the morning, I was reminded by something Anne Graham Lotz has shared - something her mother wrote to her in the flyleaf of her first Bible ...Read Full Post »

One of my favorite parts about Christmas are the Christmas cards. I love receiving them . . . looking at the family pictures, catching up on lives of friends and loved ones. I also enjoy reading the holiday sentiments.
Wishes of joy is a common sentiment.
After noticing a number of cards with virtually the same phrase, "Wishing you peace and joy this Christmas season," my daughter wondered why "Wishing you joy" was used more than "Wishing you happiness."
In the "Daily Light for Daily Living®" feature airing on December 17th, Anne Graham Lotz explains the difference between joy and happiness:

I've been asked about my job more in the past couple of weeks than I've been asked my whole life. Between a few high school reunion gatherings (marking our 30th this year!) the "what do you do for a living" question came up time after time.
The response to my 23 year tenure at Ambassador is always the same, "You must really like what you do."
There is one significant reason I like what I do which I'm always quick to share -- it's a distinct privilege to represent quality Christian broadcast ministries and specifically, to ...Read Full Post »

My high school reunion was this past weekend. There aren't words to describe the feeling when you're hugging a good childhood friend you haven't seen in three decades. I held on a little longer almost as if I could somehow bridge the years of being apart in one hug.
We laughed as we recounted the "glory days" of high school. Funny how when I was a teenager, I didn't give much thought to the religious or political beliefs of my high school friends. All I knew (and cared about!) were things like where we were going ...Read Full Post »

At any given time, I have number of friends and loved ones on my mind. These days, there are two individuals utmost in my thoughts -- one I've known for years who has served in Christian radio in the midst of treatment for pancreatic cancer and a little girl I've never met whose cancer journey has hit a deep valley. My heart is burdened to pray for both daily.
Anne Graham Lotz shares in a recent blog, "When God commands us to pray, it's for a reason. He knows what's coming."
I don't know what's ...Read Full Post »
