Billy Graham on Heaven

  • Monday, November 3, 2014

As Billy Graham's 96th birthday rolls around on November 7th, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association is encouraging churches and individual believers to use the My Hope outreach around that date to simply share Jesus with friends, family and neighbors who may be far from God.

A new video called, Heaven, with a never-before-seen message from Mr. Graham, was released last week to equip believers to share the Gospel in whatever setting they choose-church, home  . . . anywhere!

(You can order your free copy of the DVD on the BGEA web site.)

And radio stations are encouraged to share the My ...

My Hope with Billy Graham

  • Monday, October 13, 2014

I played tour guide this weekend showing out of town guests some Southern California sites.  I realized something these past couple of days. . . while it's fun to visit these places, it can also be discouraging.

These are places filled with people living lives focused on acquiring money and fame.  And, it's also home to those who never made it.  As in every walk of life, there are those whose life is where they'd dreamed it would be and those whose life is about as far away from it as possible.

What We Do is Important

  • Monday, September 8, 2014

What we say is important, but what we do is more important," the late Truett Cathy, Founder of the Chick-fil-A restaurant chain.

In an interview which was first featured in Decision Magazine in 2002, Cathy shared, "When we moved into our current headquarters, I called a meeting of our executive committee to ask ourselves some important questions: "Why are we here?" "He was a fine Christian gentleman ...

It's human nature.  It begins at infancy.

I remember when my oldest (who turns 21 this month!) was a baby.  She would squish up her nose and make this silly grin over and over again  . . . as long as I reacted.  She'd make the funny face.  I'd laugh.  She'd do it again.

When what we do causes someone else to react positively, it's human nature to want to do more - be silly and make someone laugh more, take on more projects on the heels of your boss' accolades or speak words of encouragement to someone causing ...

Planting Seeds

  • Monday, July 28, 2014

My daughter has this thing for planting flowers.  She loves to plant seeds and watch them grow into flowers.  Problem is, she doesn't have much of a green thumb.

So, what ends up happening is the whole family gets involved.  I buy the seed and the soil, Rebecca plants the seed, her sister waters it and her brother makes sure it gets a few hours of sunlight a week.

Eventually, the flower blooms.

Evangelism can also be a matter of planting seeds.

Sometimes, it's telling someone you're going to pray for them.  Then, another person invites that ...

The Example of His Father

  • Monday, June 9, 2014

Current day statistics about Father's Day:

- Father's Day is the fourth-largest card-sending occasion with 87 million cards given every year.

- Two top-selling categories are "Dad from Daughter" and "Dad From Both."

- Sonora Louise Smart Dodd of Spokane, Wash., is credited with starting Father's Day after hearing a sermon on Mother's Day. Dodd wanted to honor her father William Jackson Smart, a widower who raised six children on his own.

In this week's Father's Day edition of "Peace with God," Franklin Graham reflects on the example of his father, Billy Graham -- past, present and future ...
