My husband and I have recently gained a full appreciation for the effort it takes to find a new church home. After settling in as newly weds, finding a place to connect with believers was a top priority. And if I’m really honest with you, I’d have to say it’s not only been overwhelming…at times, it’s been downright discouraging. But if there’s one thing that stands out to me through this arduous process so far—I’ve learned that Church isn’t about me (I know, shocker.) It’s about a body of believers ...

I am one of those.

I'm the person that everyone has a good laugh at this time of year. The reason is this: As I absent mindedly meander through aisles in stores, I inevitably get greeted by the Halloween display. You know the ones I'm talking about...the creepy guy who chuckles and moves when you walk by or the hanging spider that annoyingly hits your head? Well, I'm the one who usually jumps and may occasionally let out a "quiet" shriek.

We all know that in just a few weeks, neighborhoods will be transformed as trick-or-treaters ...

At least, that's what I'm lobbying for!

This past weekend, my husband let me decorate the house for fall...I've put leaves out, pumpkins are scattered throughout, and Tommy, our friendly scarecrow on a swing, is hanging from our arbor. I love everything that comes with fall, from apple pies to family gatherings. And this year, Jim Garlow reminded me of another reason fall is such an incredible season-it gives a unique opportunity to talk about the truth of the spiritual world with friends, kids, family and neighbors.

That phrase was the anthem of my first Bible class at Biola University...and Dr. Horner spent the semester instilling us with a passion to know the Truth-understanding it would impact our entire lives.
