Road-Trip

Whenever I head off on a road trip, I always set the destination into my GPS and keep a paper atlas in the trunk, just in case.

But recently, I started to going to Google Earth a few days before my trip to get a bird's-eye view of the entire journey.  I check out the terrain, look for areas of congestion and even select "Street View" if I want to see exactly what specific turnoffs are going to look like when I arrive.  Having a good overview helps me navigate the journey and, Lord willing, make it safely to ...

Landmark Sermons from the New Testament

  • Tuesday, July 28, 2015

A few months back you may recall my mention of an interview Phil Johnson (executive director of Grace to You®) did with John MacArthur.  The discussion was around the recent completion of The MacArthur New Testament Commentary (33 volume set)At the end of that interview Phil told John that as a result of this project the staff was putting together a broadcast series featuring a hallmark lesson from every book of the New Testament (Matthew to Revelation).

Well, I'm happy to report that series begins in August on "Grace to You®."  Incredibly, it covers nearly a half-century of ...

What is Marriage?

  • Tuesday, June 30, 2015

That question has stood at the center of a furious debate for years.  And now that the Supreme Court justices ruled in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage, Grace to You® wants to be sure your listeners know the Bible offers a clear, detailed vision of what marriage should be.

Traditional MarriageOn the daily broadcast coming up in July, John MacArthur shows listeners God's plan for marriage and just how different it is from the way the world understands it. This brand-new (and very timely) series titled Restoring Marriage airs 7/15-23.

Then toward the end of July, John ...

A Lesson in Forgiveness

  • Tuesday, May 26, 2015

Mother and daughter"Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it."--Mark Twain

This past month I spent several hours in the emergency room with my dad-nothing too critical, mostly cautionary visits that lasted more than 4 hours.  As you can imagine, spending that much time in the ER can make any patient (and their family) anxious, irritable, and well, tired.

During each visit, the ER medical technicians poked and prodded my dad, checked his vitals, took blood and x-rays, and asked numerous questions.  There were a few instances when the task became invasive and kindly ...

There's Only One Way

  • Tuesday, April 28, 2015

A survey last fall by Lifeway Research showed that 45% of Americans say there are "many" ways to heaven.  Interestingly enough, 19% of evangelicals agree with that statement.

But, according to John MacArthur ... there's only one way.  And that's the subject of his 2-week study that begins next week on "Grace to You®." From Matthew, chapter 7, John shares several key points from Jesus' message from the Sermon on the Mount while helping listeners know for sure if they are truly on The Way to Heaven (airs 5/4-5/15).

Then later this month, John MacArthur takes a ...

A Significant Milestone

  • Tuesday, April 14, 2015

MacArthur New Testament CommentaryRecently John MacArthur reached a significant milestone that very few Bible teachers have ever accomplished: writing a detailed commentary on every verse of the New Testament.

In follow-up to the completion of The MacArthur New Testament Commentary (a more than 35-year project), Carl Miller asked John on a recent "Grace to You®" broadcast, "What was the most rewarding aspect of this project? The reason countless hours of writing were well-spent?"  Here's John's response ...

The most exhilarating, blessed, triumphant, joyful, convicting experience of my life is to be studying the Word of God.  If you're going to study ...
