Music Lifts the Soul

I really enjoy music.  Keep in mind, I have no musical talent.  At one time I was quite the singer, but then my voice changed, and let's just say - now, not so much. 

I resonate with the words of Lady Catherine (from my wife's favorite movie - Pride and Prejudice) "There are few people in England, I suppose, who have more true enjoyment of music than myself, or a better natural taste. If I had ever learnt, I should have been a great proficient."  OK maybe I wouldn't be a great proficient, but I really like it.

Parenting isn't for the faint of heart

I was preaching this past Sunday morning during our first service at Trabuco Canyon Community Church, and as I'm sharing timeless truth from sacred Scripture I hear a kid talking in the back of the church...15 pews away. Now, I know I should be patient, especially with 4 year olds, but how many times to I need to tell this kid to be quiet during service? It's not the first time.

I heard my wife’s voice on the other end of the line talking to my daughter….my daughter Grace who we both love, but who often forgets to clean up after she has played with her toys. It can be really frustrating. Any parent knows it’s a whole lot easier to prevent the mess than it is to clean it up.
